The Rolling Stones: "Hot Rocks 1964-71"

Released in 1971,
this was a very popular compilation album
with a bit of checkered history.

Unauthorized by The Rolling Stones themselves,
their former manager Allen Klein produced this LP
on his own label, ABKCO,
after the band had left him and Decca
to record on their own label.

The Rolling Stones: "Flowers"

Released in 1967,
this LP is an American compilation album
consisting of songs recorded in previous sessions
and songs that had been released as singles
and songs that had recently appeared on other albums.

Not, strictly speaking, a "hits" album;
more of a "we think you should give these tracks a bit more attention, thank you"
album.

The Rolling Stones: "Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass)"

Released in 1966, this was the first of what would eventually become numerous "Hits" recordings.

Do I really need to wax eloquent about The Rolling Stones and these early hits?

Suffice it to say...

I was listening to these tunes A LOT
at a very formative age.

It affected me.

I'm just sayin'.

A fan in Indiana took this one off my hands.

The Rolling Stones: "Tattoo You"

It's The Rolling Stones.  What can I actually tell you about 'em?

"Tattoo You" was the 18th American studio LP for The Rolling Stones.
It was released in 1981.
It included several tracks that had actually been written and even in some cases recorded or partially recorded during the previous ten years or so.
Apparently it was produced this way because the band wanted to go on tour behind an album but did not have time to write fresh material.
"Start Me Up" was a huge hit, and "Hang Fire" and "Waiting on a Friend" were also strong on the charts.

These pics are of the inner sleeve.

This LP went to a fan in California.

The Rolling Stones: "Beggars Banquet"

This LP hit the streets in late 1968.
After experimenting a bit with psychedelia on the previous album, this recording was a return to The Stones' R&B roots.

This LP made the long trek to Canada from the USA.

The Rolling Stones: "Hot Rocks 1964-1971"

Released in late 1971, this double LP has become the highest-selling album of all time for The Rolling Stones.
It was the third (3rd) "hits" album, and it remains a favorite collection of songs and an excellent retrospective of their phenomenal "early" years.

You've gotta love these great pics of a young, rebellious band of musicians who were not in the least overshadowed by the success of their fellow Brits.

This one wound up in Michigan.
